MDU Formula D Pro Am Rd. 4

I know the pics are late, but between Julien and I, making it home from STL was interesting to say the least. After finally overcoming electrical fires, blown fuses, and flat tires we finally made it home.

The Gateway road coarse events are always the highlight of drift season in the midwest. Bringing in drivers from all over the country, as far as New England, to compete in the Pro Am series hosted by Midwest Drift Union. Gateway has an amazing facility that most grass roots or even Pro Am events can hardly compare to. From covered pits, to a strictly maintained track, this facility is always fun. Hanging out with all the STL crew and meeting a lot of new and cool faces is...
just another plus to this event. Unfortunately none of us from KC, aside from Dustin, have ever been able to take advantage of driving this track. Hopefully this will all change next year.

From talking to a lot of the drivers that have been competing in the MDU Pro Am series, this coarse is by far the most challenging stop in the series. With the coarse really pushing drivers hard, as there was really only one line you could follow to be competitive.

The morning consisted of spin outs with only a few close calls. As the day progressed I watched almost every driver drastically improve and grasp the correct line on the coarse.

One car that I absolutely loved was this s14. It breached into a whole different realm of missiles with what was essentially an open wheeled missile. I heart his car

As qualifying approached drivers real skill began to show as their lines, speed, and aggression began to improve, and be perfected rapidly. You could actually start to pick out who the likely Top 8 tandem candidates would be.

After the announcement to start qualifying went out most drivers were giving zero fucks about anything.

The day ended with some fierce tandem competition, which resulted in the MDU series points leader Mike Feiock and his FC3S winning in a much deserved manner.

The majority of the action shots were shot by Julien, and the hardparked ones by myself. I just decided to edit most of them a tad. Enjoy looking through them as I cannot think of enough to say for all of the pics.
