I ordered and finally received my new tires.
bf goodrich g-force's...they grip crazy good, especially in the rain. a good all season tire.

also, got new gold trucks for the skateboard. the mitch-matched set i had on wasnt working, if only i hadnt broken the first set, hahah

Camera mount for the e36

This design needs work on the mounts, but so far this mounts into the car. Its not completely stable but after a bit of work it will be a lot more rigid.

There's two straight pieces, a curved piece in the middle that I TIG welded together. Also a straight piece where I flattened the ends and have the camera swivel mount permanently installed. On the ends I welded in nuts for the bolts to thread into and the chassis mounts will be replacing the flimsy "candy-cane" mounts I have now.

These "candy-cane" mounts were especially hard to make. I first tried to drill through the flat stock but for some reason it wasn't real easy to drill such a large diameter hole through the metal. So instead I cut some small diameter tubing for the bolts to go through. Then the hard part came...i had to weld the metal rings to the flat stock. so i used the grinder to make a circular shape that mimicked the rings, and then carefully welded them together. Afterwards my friend Eric helped me heat up the opposite ends of the flat mount so that I could hammer them 180 degrees the other way.

Sadly, once i got in the back seat and installed the mount, i realized that the candy cane mount system was not stable enough. so i will revamp the mount sections to be considerably more stable and secure, and possibly add a third extension to rest on the floor of the car, helping further stabilize the whole mount.

So my friend Eric had some problems lately with his car, and we determined it to be a slipping clutch. So instead of having the dealer or a shop work on it, we decided to do it ourselves... Little did we know just how much work it was going to be. What wouldve taken one day with a 240sx and my experience, has ended up being a several day experience, yet a fun and learning opportunity.

One thing i have learned so far, is mitsubishi sure didnt want to let people work on these cars, cause they sure as hell didnt make things easy. from almost no space to work with to demon bolts in impossible to reach places, these things made me glad a have a FR layout car, and easy to work on chassis. But nonetheless, its nice to see a non-20 year old car sitting in the driveway getting worked on. Anyways, on to pics.

So i almost nearly died yesterday...

Driving around with a bunch of friends. The road we were on had alot of nice bankings and curves. I was a passenger. Long story short, we go through the road once, then on the way back, something a little like this happened:

Except there wasnt a nice safe open field on the side of the road we almost fell off. There was like a 15ft. drop and lots of trees waiting to greet us. But!, out of nowhere, we instantly pull out of our FWD slide off the road on one side, and quickly shot across to the other side of the road, and ended up in a ditch a bit like this:

except we were against the other side of the ditch, and the airbag deployed and i went through a numerous amount of choice words to describe what was happening.
I was very amazed that the driver did not let the car fall off the other side of the road. it could have ended much worse.

<--so after doing this and getting the car out of the ditch, we assessed the damage. bent LCA and broken tension rod bolt. no too bad. but the tire was stuck in the wheel well. so after a friend put some weight on it and got the upper A arm unstuck from the stock tower, the wheel still rubbed. equipped with not many tools, i come up with an idea that most people use on drift cars.
yes, i pulled the fender on a Honda. lol.

except the pole i had was aloooot shorter and about half that diameter. then we proceeded to hammer down the pinch weld that most drifters do for tire clearance.
then once that was all said and done, we limped back home. i roll into bed at 330 or so....what a night.

And lets not even mention the freshly killed deer i ran over on the hwy at around 70mph....man...pics & story on that soon.
